Adequacy, Preparation and Planting

Infrastructure Works:

Bringing the land or virgin lots through the construction of drains, swales, pumping stations, internal roads, electrification, so that they are ready for cultivation.

Adequacy:

The process in which the soil is left ready for planting, including the following tasks:

  • Topography: Define the area, soil features and viability of the crop to be planted.
  • Design: In the topographic survey and its projection.Design: In the topographic survey and its projection.
  • Leveling: definition of the slopes of the land.

Preparation:

Conditioning the land for planting sugarcane. Includes the following activities.

  • Rakes: They remove the surface layer of the soil, eliminating vegetation and residues that are not suitable for cultivation.
  • Polishing rakes: Segment large pieces of soil (clods) into smaller ones and facilitate leveling or furrowing.
  • Plow-brush: Breaks the soil at depths of 40 cm. to oxygenate it.
  • Subsoil: Like the chisel plow, it breaks the soil, but at a depth greater than 60 cm.
  • Polished with Rastra: It crumbles the clods to facilitate the furrowing.
  • Furrowed: Makes the bed for sowing the seed, which is covered manually or mechanically.

Sowing:
Management of sugar cane seedbeds and planting, depending on the variety and agro-ecological conditions, includes the following tasks:

  • Procurement
  • Batch banding
  • Seed distribution and seed placement
  • Seed capping and germination irrigation
